菊与断头台是一部剧情,古装,运动片，故事讲述了一战后的大正时期，女相扑手和无政府主义青年之间发生的“时代物语，黑泽明&沟口健二时代的日本电影界元老马场正担任美术监修。

After the Great Kanto earthquake in 1923, a troupe of women's sumo wrestler arrive in the area near Tokyo. The group of female sumo wrestlers include Tomoyo and Tamae. Meanwhile, Tetsu and Daijiro are members of an anarchist group. They go to watch the female sumo wrestlers and become fascinated by them.
